Husband and Wife, Culinary Team, Richard M. Dowe Jr. and Kory Dowe are co-owners of the new Catering Cafe/Eatery named Pantry 284, located at 284 Genesee Street in Utica, NY.
Originally from the Utica/Whitesboro area of CNY, the two met just before college and are both graduates of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, where they made their home for the past 18 years. Richard & Kory are proud parents of two beautiful little girls and they are one of the best reasons to come back to their roots in the "315" to be close to family & friends once again.
With the combined 35+ years of experience the two have gained in the food-service industry, working for others, they decided it was time to start their own business. Richard has worked at some of the finest restaurants, hotels and country clubs in New England as a professional Chef, including but not limited to; Capriccio's, Cafe Nuovo, Renaissance Providence Hotel and The TPC Boston of the PGA Tour. He has also had the pleasure of working one on one as a private chef for athletes & celebrities. Kory's career in food service started in Hotel Restaurant/Institutional management where she had the opportunity of working in front of the house operations, first as waitress/banquet server, then working up to managing at institutions such as; Harvard Business School and Rhode Island Hospital. Kory's entrepreneurial spirit and desire for change is what lead her to finding her passion for sweets where she is self-taught in the arts of baking/pastry and cake decorating.
Pantry 284 was started on the premise of offering nutritious, delicious, prepared foods to-go. What has started as, what seems like, a small artisinal sandwich shop, will continue to grow in menu offerings as business progresses.
